A Highland Cow portrait has been on my to-do list for ages, so I’m delighted to finally get a chance to work on one that I like. In almost all of my wildlife and pet portraits, I find the eyes are indeed the ‘windows of the soul’ and play a crucial part in making that connection and letting the animal’s personality shine through. Highland Cows however, famous for their long and shaggy coat, already have lots of character even if their eyes are mostly covered up.
